Seiring kian banyaknya pengguna internet di Indonesia, layanan belanja ritel secara online juga ikut tumbuh pesat mengikuti tingginya minat belanja online. Tren pertumbuhannya di tahun 2010 ini terbilang signifkan.

"Pertumbuhan ritel e-commerce akan terus mengalami peningkatan. Peningkatannya cukup tinggi, tahun ini bisa mencapai 50%," kata Direktur Retail Service Nielsen Yongky Susilo dalam keterangan pers.
Kehadiran toko online menjadi pesaing bagi peritel lainya yang sudah eksis seperti hipermarket, supermarket, minimarket, dan peritel tradisional. Namun Yongky tak melihat itu sebagai ancaman serius sebab perkembangan ritel bergantung pada minat konsumen. "Konsumenlah yang menentukan," ujarnya.
